I’m Convinced Agatha All Along Was A Better WandaVision Season 2 Than WandaVision Season 2 Could Have Been

Although an official WandaVision season 2 would have been great, I am convinced that Agatha All Along was even better than the former could have been. By the time of Agatha All Along"s ending, the perception of the show had changed greatly from when it had begun. Initially, many viewed Agatha All Along as unnecessary, stating that no one really asked for a spin-off to WandaVision. Now, though, the witch-centric supernatural story is counted among the better-ranked of Marvel"s TV shows.
This has led many to clamor for Agatha All Along season 2, despite no confirmation from Marvel Studios that this will ever happen. Members of Agatha All Along"s cast will surely appear again in the MCU, just as many of them first appeared in WandaVision. In many ways, Agatha All Along served as a continuation of WandaVision, lessening the desire to see season 2 of the latter. Even more interestingly, I am certain that Agatha All Along was a better WandaVision season 2 than any official WandaVision season 2 story would have been.
WandaVision Was Perfect, But Works Best As A Single-Season Show WandaVision Did Not Suit A Multi-Season Story Firstly, concerning WandaVision itself, that show was excellent and remains one of the MCU"s best, but there is no denying it works better as a one-off season. The primary reason for this is the entire premise of its story. WandaVision was very much a mystery box show, with the viewers in the dark about what was really going on for much of the first seven episodes. While there were certainly hints as to Wanda"s creation of the Hex, the mysteries around why this happened and whether anyone else - like Mephisto - was secretly responsible were not truly revealed until episode 8.
Related Marvel Finally Confirms Mephisto Exists In The MCU A new Marvel release finally confirms Mephisto exists in the MCU, years after speculation of the demon"s introduction began with WandaVision.
Posts 4 Given that so much of the show"s success relied on this intrigue and mystery over what actually happened, it would have been overly difficult to replicate this in a second season. I am not saying WandaVision season 2 would be impossible, but I think capturing that same mystery box feeling a second time would be incredibly tricky. WandaVision"s contained story worked because of that organic building of compelling questions and answers, bolstered by the fact that audiences had no idea what was going on; approaching a second season, recapturing this would not be an easy task to accomplish.
Agatha All Along Works To Continue WandaVision's Story Without Giving The Original MCU Show A Second Season Agatha Took WandaVision's Baton & Ran With It In Agatha All Along, however, WandaVision received what was essentially a spiritual sequel. In so many different ways, Agatha All Along continued the lingering story threads of WandaVision perfectly. The titular character was the main antagonist of WandaVision, with the entire story of the show focusing on her regaining the powers that Wanda Maximoff stole from her. This, tied with the massive focus on Wanda"s son, Billy Maximoff, proved just how much of a pseudo-sequel Agatha All Along was to WandaVision.
One could argue that WandaVision season 2 simply was not needed because of Agatha All Along. After all, Wanda"s story continued in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Vision"s will continue in the upcoming Marvel TV show, Vision Quest, Monica Rambeu"s continued in The Marvels, and so on. The only real loose threads of WandaVision were the fates of Agatha, Billy Maximoff, and his brother, Tommy. Agatha All Along addressed all of these perfectly while still having its own story, characters, and tone, providing a stronger WandaVision season 2 than WandaVision season 2 would have been.
Agatha All Along Was Also Able To Repeat WandaVision's Mystery Trick Better Than Season 2 Could Have A New Show Meant Old Tricks Close One final element worth exploring as a reason why Agatha All Along was better as WandaVision season 2 than an official continuation was the storytelling trick used in both shows. I have already made WandaVision"s mystery box set-up clear, yet Agatha All Along had a similar story in that it was revealed Billy Maximoff created the Witch"s Road using his reality-altering powers. However, Agatha All Along was never set up as a mystery in the overt, explicit way WandaVision was via the sitcom aspect of its opening episodes.
Therefore, Agatha All Along pulled the same mystery box trick as WandaVision in a way that worked, as many did not see it coming. WandaVision, in contrast, teased its mystery from the off, meaning viewers spent the entire show trying to figure out what was going on. If WandaVision season 2 had happened, audiences would have undoubtedly been looking for this kind of mystery almost immediately, lessening its impact a second time around. Thanks to Agatha All Along"s official status as a spin-off though, it pulled off WandaVision"s trick a second time without losing any impact.
